Kaarea takes part in the TIETO26 preparedness exercise

Kaarea is participating in the nationwide TIETO26 preparedness exercise, which aims to strengthen the functioning of society’s critical operations during disruptions and emergency conditions. The exercise focuses on the resilience of food supply chains in large-scale societal disturbances and exceptional circumstances.

TIETO26 is a comprehensive information society preparedness exercise that began in March 2026. Its goal is to improve cooperation, information sharing and the creation of a shared situational picture between companies, authorities and other actors in situations involving widespread and long-lasting disruptions to society. More than 180 organizations from various sectors are participating. The exercise is organized by the National Emergency Supply Agency, and coordination is handled by the Digital Pool of the National Emergency Supply Organization in cooperation with the National Emergency Supply Agency, Traficom’s Cyber Security Centre, the Police and the Finnish Defence Forces.

Food supply is at the core of security of supply

Food supply plays a crucial role in safeguarding society’s functionality and security of supply. The TIETO26 exercise particularly examines the dependencies of food supply on other critical sectors such as energy, logistics and digital services, and seeks solutions to potential disruptions in supply chains.
The exercise provides an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between authorities and actors in the food sector and to identify the roles of different stakeholders in disruption situations. Joint exercises create the conditions for smooth operations when the situation is genuinely serious.

Kaarea as part of a functioning food chain

Kaarea provides Food Services that are an essential part of everyday life for many people. That is why preparedness and ensuring operational capability, even in exceptional circumstances, are important to us. By participating in the TIETO26 exercise, Kaarea contributes to developing the resilience of food supply and strengthening cooperation with other key actors essential to security of supply.
The TIETO26 exercise consists of training days, preliminary assignments and a role-playing exercise to be held in autumn 2026, where simulated cyber, information and physical world disruptions will be practiced. The exercise continues in phases and supports participants’ long-term preparedness work.

Joint exercises strengthen Finland’s security of supply and ensure that food supply functions when it is needed the most.
