School snack sales

You can buy snacks at school either using a smartphone or a physical snack card. Instructions for both options are available here.

Digital snack card in the Mape app

Kaarea uses the Mape mobile app, which allows students to buy snacks in the school canteen using a smartphone. Parents can top up their child’s Mape account at www.mapekouluruoka.fi. The child can then use the balance in the school canteen. Website registration is required to top up the account.

Using the digital snack card

  1. The child installs the Mape app on their smartphone from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. A parent adds money to the child’s app at www.mapekouluruoka.fi. Once the payment is processed, the balance is available in the Mape app.
  3. In the school canteen, the child chooses a snack, and the staff tells them the price.
  4. The child pays for the snack using the app and shows the receipt on their phone to the staff.

Physical snack card

Instructions for parents

  1. Make a payment for the snack card to Kaarea’s account: FI40 5716 9020 0778 43.
  2. The fee is €20.
  3. In the payment message field, write “snack card” along with the user’s information: first name, last name, and class.
  4. Keep the receipt for your records.

Instructions for students

Show your payment receipt (or a photo of it) to the canteen staff during snack sales, and you will receive your card.

Snack menu and prices

While the snack menu is largely the same at every school, make sure to check the serving times at your school’s canteen. Available options include sandwiches, Karelian pies, snack biscuits, fruits, yogurts, smoothies, and juices.

The selection varies daily, and occasionally you may find homemade pizza, buns, or pancakes. However, most snacks are healthy and sugar-free.

Prices range from €0.30 to €2.70

Lunch vouchers

You can purchase lunch vouchers from Kaarea Oy to pay for your meals in 2026. Vouchers are usually sold in packs of 10, but smaller quantities are available if needed. The minimum purchase is 5 vouchers.

Instructions for upper secondary school staff / other personnel:
 

  1. Pay for the desired number of vouchers to Kaarea’s account: FI40 5716 9020 0778 43.
  2. Each voucher costs €7.95. The minimum purchase is 5 vouchers.
  3. In the payment message field, write “Lunch voucher order”, the location where the vouchers will be used, and the purchaser’s name.
  4. Keep the payment receipt or a photo of it.
  5. When you arrive for lunch, show the receipt (or a photo of it) to the canteen staff to receive your lunch vouchers.

Instructions for trainees and students 

  1. Pay for the desired number of vouchers to Kaarea’s account: FI40 5716 9020 0778 43.
  2. Each voucher costs €5.57. The minimum purchase is 5 vouchers.
  3. In the payment message field, write “Lunch voucher order”, the location where the vouchers will be used, and the purchaser’s name.
  4. Keep the payment receipt or a photo of it.
  5. When you arrive for lunch, show the receipt (or a photo of it) to the canteen staff to receive your lunch vouchers.

Give one voucher per meal to the staff and make sure to write your name and the date on the back.
