Kaarea

From caterer to shift manager

I work as a shift manager in the kitchen at the Yli-Maaria school. In addition to preparing food, my job also involves organising the day’s work. We’re a team of eight, consisting of caterers and cooks. The best thing about my job is that it provides a suitable challenge – no two days are the same. And of course, the staff here at Ypsilon are great.

I first joined Kaarea as a caterer in 2011. I’ve since progressed to become a cook and institutional cook, and completed a basic qualification in hotel, restaurant and catering services, plus a qualification to become an institutional cook. I’m currently studying for a specialist vocational qualification in supervisory work.

At Kaarea, employees have great opportunities to develop, train, and progress in their tasks. I would encourage all motivated young people to join the Kaarea team!
