Kaarea

Varied and diverse work as a property maintenance supervisor

Kaarea is responsible for maintenance at a number of museums, schools, day-care centres, hospitals, care homes, and fire stations. In total, there are fifty members of staff and seven property maintenance supervisors.

My group is responsible for youth centres, day-care centres, camp centres, and libraries, for example. We also manage locations in the archipelago, which means that I always have two construction workers working in the archipelago until the sea freezes. If it freezes.

My job mostly involves allocating tasks to construction workers, directing subcontractors, and supervising work. There’s a lot of driving, as the area we operate in is very broad and contains hundreds of sites. I nevertheless enjoy it a lot, and I like that my work is varied and diverse.
