I work as a facility manager at the Runosmäki senior centre. My work involves cleaning the senior centre’s common areas.

I start the work day by preparing the cleaning trolleys and equipment. I check that I’ve got all the clothes and cleaning products I need. Then I begin work and clean through the spaces one by one. The best thing about my job is that I can work independently and at my own pace. I’m a social person and I enjoy talking with the residents, but I like to get on with work on my own.

I changed industry, moving from the cleaning industry to the restaurant industry in 2007. Before I came to Kaarea, I worked as an assistant caretaker at an orphanage. I think Kaarea’s supervisors always handle things well. I’m on a part-time pension, and there’s a good amount of flexibility in this job – I can arrange my working hours to fit around my schedule.
